Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya organised various activities to commemorate the death anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the birth anniversary of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe, and ‘Writing Inspiration Day’, as directed by the Government. The programme was organised by the Cultural Committee and included an online quiz competition, a commemorative ceremony, poetry recitation and certificate distribution. An online quiz competition was conducted on 27 July, in which 80 students of the college participated enthusiastically. In the B.Sc. category, Sanjana Jagdish Madavi secured the first position, Darshana Kamalakar Patansawangikar stood second, while Bhagyashree Tularam Bhoyar secured the third position. In the B.Com. category, Kritika Raju Ramgunde secured the first position, Shruti Dashrath Dahake stood second and Khushi Tulsidas Wankhede secured the third position. In the B.A. category, Sangharsh Kakaji Ramteke stood first, Divyani Ramu Laware secured the second position and Saksham Gautam Bhasharkar stood third.
The commemorative programme was held at the college on 1 August under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Joby George. Principal Dr. George, along with Science Faculty In-charge Dr. Ashwini Dhonge, Arts Faculty In-charge Prof. Sunil Shinde and Commerce Faculty In-charge Dr. Anita Mahawadiwar, offered floral tributes to the portraits of Lokmanya Tilak and Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe. Certificates were later distributed to the winners of the online quiz competition. In his presidential address, Principal Dr. Jobi George urged students to imbibe Lokmanya Tilak’s patriotism, love for education and leadership qualities, as well as the literary, social and humanitarian values reflected in the life and works of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe. He further stated that the cultivation of reading, reflection and writing habits contributes to the holistic development of students’ personalities and empowers them to bring about positive transformation in society. As per the Government’s directions, 1 August was also observed as ‘Writing Inspiration Day’. Students enthusiastically participated in the poetry recitation activity organised on the occasion and paid tribute to the rich literary legacy of Annabhau Sathe. The activity helped promote students’ interest in reading, writing and literature. The introductory remarks were delivered by Prof. Dhammadip Sahare, Member Secretary of the Cultural Committee and Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology. The programme was compered by Almiya Farukh Sheikh. Yogesh Narendra Misake expressed his thoughts on the life and contributions of Lokmanya Tilak, while Nandini Pramod Thakare highlighted the life and work of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe. Gunjan Pramod Domale proposed the vote of thanks. Teaching staff, non-teaching employees and students attended the programme in large numbers. The members of the Cultural Committee made special efforts for the successful organisation of the event.

The Cultural Committee of Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, Bhiwapur successfully organized an Online Quiz Competition on 27th July 2026 to commemorate the life, thoughts, and invaluable contribution of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak to the Indian freedom movement and nation-building. The competition was conducted online through Google Forms from 11:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m., with a total duration of 20 minutes. The quiz consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark, making the maximum score 25 marks.The questions were designed to assess students’ knowledge of Lokmanya Tilak’s life, ideology, journalism, educational contributions, social reforms, and role in India’s struggle for India’s independence. The event received an overwhelming response from students across the Science, Arts, and Commerce faculties. A total of 80 students enthusiastically participated in the competition, demonstrating their interest and commitment to learning about one of India’s greatest national leaders. The primary objective of this initiative was to create awareness among students about the life and legacy of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, inspire them with his patriotic ideals, and promote a spirit of healthy academic competition. The programme was organized under the aegis of the Cultural Committee of Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya. The event was successfully planned, coordinated, and conducted by Asst. Prof. Dhammadip Sahare, Member Secretary, Cultural Committee. The Principal, faculty members, and members of the Cultural Committee appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and congratulated all the participants for contributing to the grand success of the programme.

Today, the Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. B. S. Khandekar, visited our NCC troop and interacted with the NCC cadets. During his visit, he motivated the cadets and provided valuable guidance for their future endeavours, inspiring them to strive for excellence in both their academic and military pursuits.
He was accompanied by IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Anita Mahawadiwar and Associate NCC Officer, Lt. Dr. Yogesh More. The Commanding Officer also appreciated the college campus and admired its well-maintained infrastructure. On this occasion, certificates were distributed to the cadets who successfully qualified the NCC ‘B’ Certificate Examination. The event concluded on a positive note, leaving the cadets encouraged and motivated to continue their journey with dedication and discipline.

Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya’s Department of Chemistry, under the auspices of IQAC, organized a One-Day Workshop on ‘Phenyl Making’ with the objective of providing students with practical knowledge and skill-based training in the preparation of household cleaning products. Students enthusiastically participated in the Workshop and actively prepared phenyl under the guidance of the faculty members. During the practical session, students learned about the chemicals used in phenyl preparation, the step-by-step manufacturing process, safety precautions, quality testing, packaging, and storage techniques. The Workshop also highlighted the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, and environmentally responsible practices. The Workshop was coordinated under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ashwini P. Dhonge, with the support of Asst. Prof. Piyush N. Raut, Asst. Prof. Neha D. Nannaware, and Asst. Prof. Chetan S. Sontakke. Addressing the participants, Principal Dr. Jobi George appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of skill-based education, encouraging students to acquire practical knowledge that enhances self-employment opportunities and entrepreneurial abilities. The faculty members also motivated students to develop practical skills that can be applied in entrepreneurship and everyday life.
The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic student participation, making it an enriching hands-on learning experience and further reinforcing the Department of Chemistry’s commitment to promoting practical, skill-oriented education.

A 10-member ‘Students’ Career Parliament’ was constituted at Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya on 15 July 2026 to mark World Youth Skills Day under the Career Katta, initiative of the Maharashtra State Information Technology Support Centre and the Higher & Technical Education Department (M.S.).
Selected from second- and third-year students for the AY 2026–27, Prajwal Jogendra Shambharkar, a B.A. final-year student, was appointed as ‘Student Chief Minister’. Principal Dr. Jobi George administered the oath of Office to all the officer bearers of ‘Career Katta Students’ Parliament’
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Anita Mahawadiwar, Dr. Sunil Shinde, and Dr. Motiraj Chavhan. Office-bearers received Appointment Letters, Certificates, and Diaries. Principal Dr. Jobi George urged students to actively participate in Career Katta activities.
The Proceedings of the Event was conducted by Dr. R.K. Quraishi, coordinator of ‘Career Katta’. The Event was attended by all the members of teaching staff, along with 68 students.

Under the auspices of the Subject Literary Association, Department of Sports and Physical Education, National Cadet Corps, and National Service Scheme jointly organized the 12th International Yoga Day at Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, Bhiwapur. The event was presided over by Dr. Jobi George, Principal of our College. Mr. Lokesh Wagh, served as the Special Guest. Volunteers from the National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme, along with the Faculty and Staff Members were present on this occasion.
Volunteers of the National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme along with Mr. Lokesh Wagh demonstrated various types of Yoga asanas such as Tadasana, Padmasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Trikonasana, Pavanmuktasana, Bhujangasana, Shalabhasana, Yogmudra, Paschimottanasana, Sarvangasana, Halasana, Karnapidasana, Viparita Karani, Chakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, etc., highlighting the importance of Yoga for a healthy and disease-free life.

The Women’s Study Centre and Students’ Counselling Centre organized an impactful workshop on ‘Pre-Marriage Counselling: Health & Hygiene’ to equip female students with essential life knowledge. The program featured an introductory speech by Dr. Vinita S. Virgandham and a comprehensive keynote address by Public Health Specialist Dr. Namrata Telang on physical health, hygiene and emotional readiness. Principal Dr. Jobi George and Guest of Honour Dr. Sunil Shinde emphasized their ongoing commitment to the students’ holistic development and empowerment. Recognized as a key quality initiative by IQAC Coordinator Dr. Anita Mahawadiwar, the event underscored the institution’s dedication to focused student welfare. Hosted by Dr. Ravikant Mishra, the successful workshop concluded with an interactive session that successfully fostered proactive health awareness among attendees.

The Inaugural Ceremony of the same was presided over by Prof. Dr. Sunil Shinde, Head, Department of Economics. Mr. Hemant Harshe, Placement Officer of Param Skills Training India Pvt. Limited, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’ and Centre Co-ordinator Mr. Ram Gadekar, along with IQAC Coordinator of our College Associate Prof. Dr. Anita Mahawadiwar, were present on the Dias.
In his Introductory Speech, Mr. Hemant Harshe stated that ‘Param Skill Training India Private Limited’, provides free employment-oriented training to students and also assists them in securing jobs. In his Presidential Address, Dr. Shinde emphasized that Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, is continuously striving for the holistic development of students and is not limited to imparting degree education but is also focused on creating employment opportunities.
The Proceedings of the Inaugural Ceremony was conducted by Associate Prof. Dr. R.K. Quraishi, Training and Placement Officer of our College, while Associate Prof. Dr. Rajesh Bahurupi proposed the formal Vote of Thanks. Immediately after the Inaugural Ceremony, the Personal Interview process commenced.
A total of 160 candidates appeared in the interview for the post of ‘Trainee.’ Selected candidates will receive a Gross Salary of ₹28,000 per month, for a 12-hour shift. Additionally, concessional rates for breakfast and meals will be provided in the company canteen. Female candidates will be assigned only day shifts, while male candidates will have rotating day and night shifts on a weekly basis.
A total of 29 students from ‘Arts and Commerce College, Bhisi (District Chandrapur)’ participated in this Campus Recruitment Drive. Dr. Jobi George, Principal of Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, congratulated all the candidates for their enthusiastic participation. Meanwhile, after the preliminary screening process, 59 candidates have been shortlisted by ‘Param Skills Training India Pvt. Limited’, for the Second Round.
