About the Department

Established in 2012, the Department of Physics offers Physics as a major subject for B.Sc. students under the guidelines of NEP-2020. The department conducts bridge courses for first-year students and organizes remedial classes for slow learners while providing special guidance to advanced learners. It also adopts flexible methods for conducting tests, tutorials, and seminars.

The Subject Literary Association actively involves students in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities. To enhance practical exposure, the department organizes field visits and guest lectures by eminent personalities.

Along with teaching, faculty members are actively engaged in research and have published papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals. A major research project has been sanctioned by the IKS Centre, Ministry of Education, Government of India, for the academic year 2026–27.

The department strives to bring positive and transformative changes in society through scientific and research activities. It emphasizes ICT-enabled teaching–learning methods and provides students with opportunities to enhance their knowledge, skills, and overall personality development.

Laboratory

The department provides well-equipped laboratory facilities for FY, SY, and TY B.Sc. students. The laboratories are designed to support effective practical learning and are equipped with modern apparatus and instruments required for various experiments. They are spacious, well-ventilated, and provide adequate individual working space for students.

A separate dark room facility is also available for conducting specific experiments. All instruments and equipment are properly maintained to ensure smooth and safe practical work. The department strictly follows laboratory rules and safety measures to provide a secure and disciplined working environment for students.

Departmental Library

The department has its own well-maintained departmental library for students. It contains a sufficient number of textbooks, reference books, and other study materials related to the curriculum. New books are regularly added according to the academic requirements of students and faculty members.

Furthermore, the department also provides access to a digital library, enabling students to explore e-books, research articles, and online resources to enhance their knowledge and support their academic growth.
