The Backward Class Youth Relief Committee (BCYRC), established in 1990, stands as a monumental testament to the power of structured philanthropy and educational reform. At its core, the Trust was forged with a singular, profound objective; the socio-economic and intellectual up-liftment of students from marginalized communities and the underserved rural hinterlands of Maharashtra.
The architect of this noble mission late Shri Bhausaheb Govindrao Mulak was a statesman of unparalleled distinction. Serving as a Minister for the Government of Maharashtra and the Mayor of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, he brought a wealth of administrative acumen and a deep-seated humanitarian pulse to the organization. As a visionary who recognized that education is the ultimate equalizer, he steered the Trust away from mere charity towards the establishment of robust, sustainable Institutions of conventional and professional excellence.
Since that transformative inception, the Foundation Society has remarkably expanded its academic horizons transcending its humble beginnings to become a titan in the Higher Education sector. Today, the Trust’s influence spans an exhaustive spectrum of disciplines, including Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Teacher Education and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). By catering to a vast demographic across the Vidarbha region, the Trust has effectively decentralized quality education, bringing global standards to the doorsteps of the rural masses.
Under the benevolent guidance and spiritual tutelage of the sitting Chairperson, Smt. Sumanmala B. Mulak, the Trust continues to lead by example. Her leadership serves as a stabilizing force, ensuring that the foundational principles of equity and excellence remain inviolate even in the face of contemporary global challenges.
The momentum of the Trust found a new catalyst in Shri Rajendraji Mulak, the Secretary of the Trust and a former Minister of State, Government of Maharashtra. Having assumed the mantle of leadership from his illustrious father, Shri Rajendraji Mulak has been working as a dynamic and an enterprising force. His tenure has been marked by a selfless devotion to social service and an accelerated expansion into diverse educational frontiers. By prioritizing the empowerment of rural youth, he has ensured that the Trust remains a progressive vehicle for regional development.
Today, this storied legacy of service and academic brilliance is being propelled forward by the youthful exuberance and modern perspective of Shri Yashraj B. Mulak. Under this multi-generational leadership, the Backward Class Youth Relief Committee remains not just a Trust, but a living tradition of excellence, committed to carving a brighter, more equitable future for the youth of India.

About Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, Bhiwapur

Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya stands as a distinguished hallmark of academic excellence, embodying the transformative vision of our founder late Shri. Bhausaheb Govindrao Mulak. Established in 1990, under the aegis of Backward Class Youth Relief Committee (BCYRC), the Institution scripted a new epoch in the Higher Education Sector in Maharashtra. At a time, when there were no Higher Educational Institutions in the mufassil areas of Bhiwapur Tehsil, the visionary leadership of late Shri. Bhausaheb Govindrao Mulak pioneered the noble cause of imparting quality education to the rural folks, ensuring that geographical isolation would no longer impede intellectual and professional ascendancy.

Nestled 72 kilometers from Nagpur within a verdant landscape, the College has seamlessly integrated its “Green Journey” initiative into the very fabric of its Campus culture. This unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship has earned the Institution the prestigious Best Green and Clean Campus Award and the Best E-Waste Management Award, fortified by Government certified on-site E-Waste Collection Centre. Established in 1990 with Arts Faculty; the College has now metamorphosed into a multidisciplinary powerhouse. The journey of elevating the rural youth continued with the initiation of Commerce Faculty in 2002 and B.Sc. in 2012. The stride and vision of the Founder strengthened in its conceptualization with the introduction of Post Graduate courses in Economics, Political Science and Sociology in 2004. Today, in strict alignment with NEP 2020 guidelines the Institution offers sustained Skill Development Courses designed to bridge the gap between traditional pedagogy and industrial requirements.

The institutional infrastructure is a testament to modernized learning. Keeping pace with the dynamic changes in the field of education, the Institution has kept itself abreast of the ICT enabled classrooms, independent Departments; E.T.N.L Software supported English Language Laboratory, state-of-the-art Computer Laboratory, fully automated Central Administrative Office and the Central Library with spacious reading room, UGC Network Resource Centre, comprehensive Research facilities and a Guidance Centre for Competitive Examinations. Today, the Institution is transforming its envisioned objectives into a reality through quality knowledge dissemination. This intellectual ecosystem supports two prominent academic publications; VIBGYOR, an ISSN Bi-annual Multidisciplinary Research Journal  and AURA, an International Multidisciplinary Bi-Annual E-Journal, fostering a robust culture of inquiry.

Leadership and social responsibility remain the Institution’s core pillars. The College takes immense pride in its decorated history, having received Maharashtra Information Technology Support Centre’s ‘Centre of Excellence Award’ and ‘Best Principal Award’ under the aegis of Career Katta, Best Faculty Award, Best NSS Programme Officer Award and Best N.S.S Volunteer Award. Equity is championed through the Women’s Study Centre and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), which drives gender-sensitization and extension activities aimed at preserving local culture while promoting self-reliance.
The spirit of national service is ignited by a disciplined NCC Unit of 53 Cadets and a vibrant NSS Unit of 200 Volunteers, whose Volunteers consistently secure positions in the Indian Army, Agniveer, CISF and MSF. Furthermore, the Institution’s athletic prowess is solidified by being University Champions in the Inter-Collegiate Taekwondo Championship for three successive years. Gender equity and sensitization are integral parts of our Institution’s policy of empowering women’s education. Supported by an Olympic Size Swimming Pool, a premier Indoor Stadium and a well secured Women’s Hostel Building, Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya ensures that rural youth “learn locally and flourish globally,” graduating with the dignity, zest and distinction for flourishing in a competitive world. The Women’s Hostel Building enables the girl students to accomplish their dreams of getting quality education locally. Approval & Affiliation

The approval and affiliation process of the college is a structured procedure to ensure that the institution meets prescribed academic, infrastructural, and administrative standards. Initially, the college must obtain statutory approvals from the concerned regulatory authorities.

Following regulatory approval, the college seeks affiliation from a recognized university, which grants permission to offer specific programs under its academic framework. The affiliating university conducts inspections to verify infrastructure, faculty qualifications, library facilities, laboratories, governance structure, and financial sustainability. Upon satisfactory compliance with norms and standards, affiliation is granted—usually subject to periodic review and renewal—to maintain quality and accountability in higher education.

Prominent College Committees

Prominent committees in our college play a vital role in ensuring smooth governance, transparency, and holistic development of the institution. These committees distribute responsibilities across academic, administrative, and student-related areas, enabling participative decision-making and accountability.

Academic committees focus on curriculum planning, teaching quality, research promotion, and examination processes. Administrative and statutory committees such as the Discipline Committee, Anti-Ragging Committee, Internal Complaints Committee, and Grievance Redressal Cell ensure a safe, ethical, and inclusive campus environment. Other committees like Cultural, Sports, Placement, and NSS/NCC foster students’ overall personality development beyond academics.

By functioning systematically and in coordination, these committees strengthen institutional efficiency, uphold regulatory compliance, and contribute significantly to maintaining standards of excellence in the college.
