ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DR. RAHEEL QURAISHI

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Raheel Quraishi is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English at Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, Bhiwapur. He earned his Ph.D. in English (2008) for his thesis on ‘Major Women Characters in Salman Rushdie’s Novels’, complemented by an M.Phil., M.A. in English, B.Sc. in Computer Science, and a Diploma in Education (D.ed). As a recognized Ph.D. Supervisor at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, he has successfully guided five research scholars for earning doctoral degree. His scholarly output includes over 40 published research papers, multiple edited Seminar Proceedings and Journals, and a self-authored book. Dr. Quraishi has served as a Ph.D. thesis Examiner for several universities, received the ‘Bharat Shiksha Ratan Award’ (2015) and ‘Dr. Ambedkar Fellowship National Award’ (2015), organized national seminars, delivered guest lectures, contributed to university syllabus committees and examinations.

  • Master of Arts (M.A. English): Completed from Nagpur University, Nagpur in Winter 1999 with a Second Division.
  • Diploma in Education (D.Ed.): Obtained from Maharashtra State Examination Board, Pune in July 1999 with a Second Division.
  • Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.): Awarded by Alagappa University, Karai Kudi (Tamil Nadu) in February 2008 with a First Division.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): Conferred by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur on 18th February 2008 for the thesis titled “Major Women Characters in Salman Rushdie’s Novels”.

Academic Experience

  • Current Position & Institutional Role: Working as an Associate Professor of English at Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, Bhiwapur (Dist. Nagpur, M.S.), affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. Also serves as the Head, Department of English, overseeing departmental academic and administrative functions.
  • Total Teaching Tenure: Over 23 years of teaching experience, with appointment date commencing from 1st October 2003 at the same Institution.
  • Postgraduate Teaching Authorization: Recognized as a Post Graduate Teacher in English
  • Doctoral Research Supervision (Ph.D. Guide): Recognized as a Ph.D. Supervisor by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj (RTMNU) Nagpur University, Nagpur (since 18th February 2012). Successfully guided five research scholars for the award of Ph.D. degrees from RTMNU, with topics spanning:

  • External Examiner for Ph.D. Theses: Appointed as referee / viva-voce examiner for doctoral theses by multiple universities, including Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Examined research on topics such as Arthur Miller, Toni Morrison, Anita Desai, Maxine Hong Kingston, and Arvind Adiga.
  • Guest Lectures Delivered: Invited as a Guest Speaker in various Colleges across districts including Bhandara, Nagpur, Gondia, and Gadchiroli, covering topics in English literature, language teaching, and communication skills.
  • Quality Assurance & Accreditation Roles: Worked as Assistant Coordinator of IQAC and NAAC steering committee for the first cycle (2014–15), and served as In-charge of Criterion-V during the second NAAC cycle (2024–25).
