INTRODUCTION

Asst. Prof. Dr. Someshwar Vinodrao Wasekar is a distinguished faculty member in the Department of English with a strong academic background and a deep commitment to teaching, research, and social outreach. He earned his Ph.D. in English (2025) for his thesis on ‘Nationalist Consciousness in the Works of Rohinton Mistry’.  He holds a Master of Arts in English, has qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET), completed his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and also possesses a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. His academic work comprises 31 published research papers along with multiple edited seminar proceedings and journals. This blend of subject expertise and pedagogical training enables him to foster an engaging and learner-centric classroom environment. What sets him apart is his strong belief in the social role of education. He has initiated and organized several extension activities in Bhiwapur for the upliftment of marginalized communities. These include Free Health Check-up Camps, donation programs for the underprivileged, and other welfare initiatives aimed at bridging social gaps. Recognizing the importance of communication skills, he has also conducted Spoken English Classes for students of Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, helping young learners build confidence and employability.

  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.): Earned from R.T.M.Nagpur University, Nagpur in 2008 with the First Division.
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.): Obtained from R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur in 2009 with the First Division.
  • Master of Arts (M.A. English): Completed from R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur in Summer 2011 with the First Division.
  • UGC NET: Qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) in June-2012
  • UGC NET: Qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) in December-2012
  • Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.): Awarded by Gondwana University, Gadchiroli (Maharashtra) in 2018 with the First Division.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): Conferred by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur on 20th August, 2025 for the thesis titled Nationalist Consciousness in the Works of Rohinton Mistry.

Academic Experience

  • Current Position & Institutional Role:Working as an Assistant Professor of English at Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, Bhiwapur (Dist. Nagpur, M.S.), affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.
  • Total Teaching Tenure:Over 12 years of teaching experience, with appointment date commencing from 31st October 2013 at the same Institution.
  • Specialization in Teaching (Core Areas):
    • Indian Writing in English(including Mistry, Desai, Jhabvala)
    • English Language Teaching (ELT)with focus on communicative competence and technology integration
  • Teaching Focus: Aims to improve written English communication skills among UG students from rural and backward areas. Supports using multimedia and ICT tools to motivate students learning English as a Foreign Language”
  • Examination & Assessment Responsibilities:Regular appointee as Examiner for university answer scripts at undergraduate level since 2013. Also served as Internal Supervisor for university theory examinations and as Officer-in-charge for university examinations ( Winter 2017, Summer 2018).
  • Guest Lectures Delivered:Invited as a Guest Speaker in various Colleges including Arts and Commerce College, Bhisi and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Bramhapuri.
  • Quality Assurance & Accreditation Roles:  Served as In-charge of Criterion-II during the second NAAC cycle (2024–25).
