About the Department

The Department of Physical Education and Sports was established in 1990. The department started functioning under the able leadership of Dr. Vishwanath G. Channe from 1^st August 1996 to 22^nd May 2013.

Over the years, the Department has achieved many sports successes. In 2004–05, the college became Zone C Champion in Men’s Kabaddi. In 2005–06, the college won the University Championship in Men’s Judo. Again, in 2010–11, the College secured the University Zone C Kabaddi (Men’s) Championship.

In 2023–24, Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya became R.T.M. Nagpur University Taekwondo Men’s Champion. In the same year, the Men’s Volleyball Team won the Zone G Championship. In 2024–25, the college once again became R.T.M. Nagpur University Taekwondo Champion, and the Men’s Kabaddi Team won a Bronze Medal in the R.T.M. Nagpur University Kabaddi Tournament. In 2025-26, the College completed hat-trick of R.T.M. Nagpur University Taekwondo Champion Trophy also college earned Bronze Medal in R.T.M. Nagpur University Wushu Women’s Championship.

• In 2004–05, Dipak Gaikwad and Sachin Bachale represented Maharashtra State in Beach Kabaddi.
• Sikander Kannoje participated in the International Martial Arts Championship in 2006–07.
• Devendra Deoghare represented Maharashtra in the All India YMCA Table Tennis Tournament, Kolkata in 2007–08.
• Amir Kannoje represented Maharashtra in Throw Ball and Martial Arts Championships in 2009–10.
• Nikhil Patel won medals in 100 m running and Long Jump at the Maharashtra State Under-20 Athletics Championship, Pune.
• Ku. Harsha Hore won a Silver Medal in the Maharashtra State Open Volleyball Championship in 2015–16.
• Ku. Priyanka Karmore participated in the Soft Baseball Championship in Thailand and won a Gold Medal.
• Akash Masram secured 3^rd place in the 66^th Senior State Kabaddi Championship at Tumsar, District Bhandara.
• Mr. Ishak Ajgar Shaha and Mr. Sudhanshu Chaudhary represented Nagpur District, while Miss Sweta Tarare represented the Senior Women’s Kabaddi Team of Nagpur District at the State Kabaddi Championship held at Chandrapur.
• Mr. Kartikdas Katekhaye won Gold Medal in U-23 Maharashta State Athletic Championship in the Event of ‘20 km walking’.
• Mr. Ishak Ajgar Shaha and Mr. Shantanu Nagoshe represented Nagpur District, Senior Men’s Kabaddi Team of Nagpur District at the State Kabaddi Championship while Mr. Nehal Chaudhary represented the Junior Boy’s Kabaddi Team of Nagpur District in the Junior State Kabaddi Championship.
• Mr. Aryan Meshram and Mr. Tanmay Lanjewar secured Bronze Medal in Senior State Fencing Championship.

In 2016–17, Ku. Sonali Borkar (B.Sc. II) represented R.T.M. Nagpur University in the All India Inter-University Women’s Volleyball Championship and secured 2^nd place. She also won 3^rd place in Krida Mahotsav 2016, organized by Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani.

In 2019–20, Akash Masram represented R.T.M. Nagpur University in the West Zone Inter-University Men’s Kabaddi Tournament, organized by the University of Kota. Sudhir Shende secured 2^nd place in the 400-meter run at the Annual Athletic Meet of R.T.M. Nagpur University. Mr. Ishak Ajgar Shaha represented the university in Kabaddi against Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur. In Astedu Akhadas Jijau Dhal event, Mr. Shailesh Deshmukh won a Gold Medal.

In 2024–25, Mr. Kartikdas Katekhaye won the 20 km walk race with a time of 2:17:52 and secured a Gold Medal. Mr. Ishak Ajgar Shaha and Mr. Sudhanshu Chaudhary represented R.T.M. Nagpur University in Kabaddi.

Miss Komal Buradkar won a Gold Medal in the 48 kg category in the Women’s Taekwondo Inter-Collegiate Championship.

Mr. Abhishek Moharle won Gold Medals in the POOMSAE event and 80 kg Kyorugi event at the Inter-Collegiate Taekwondo Championship.

Miss Komal Buradkar and Mr. Himanshu Chauhan won a Gold Medal in the Mixed POOMSAE event.

Mr. Himanshu Chauhan, Mr. Abhishek Moharle and Mr. Alpesh Bawankar won a Gold Medal in Team POOMSAE event.

Miss Pratiksha Chafekar won a Silver Medal in the Inter-Collegiate Karate Championship.

Our College fencers Miss Tannu Dumbare, Mr. Chetan Wakekar, Miss Nilofer Pathan, Miss Himani Ghodmare, and Mr. Bhunesh Nagoshe represented R.T.M. Nagpur University in the All India Inter-University Fencing Championship held at Jammu University, Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2025-2026, Mr. Kartikdas Katekhaye in 20 KM Walk  and Miss. Mohini Buradkar in 400 Mtr Hurdels secured Gold Medal at R.T.M. Nagpur University Athletic Championship.

R.T.M. Nagpur University Intercollegiate Fencing Championship, Mr. Aryan Meshram and Mr. Nikhil Kohad won Gold Medal,

R.T.M. Nagpur University Intercollegiate Taekwondo Championship, in Kyorugi Event Miss. Komal Buradkar secured Gold Medal in 56 Kg weight category, Mr. Amul Patle in 65 Kg weight category,  Mr. Himanshu Chauhan in 73 kg weight category, Mr. Vinit Bande in 80 Kg weight category Mr. Jagdish Sarangpure in 88+ kg weight category and in Poomasae Event, team of Mr. AMul Patle, Mr. Himanshu Cahuhan and Mr. Vinit Bande secured Gold Medal.

Miss. Janhavi Tichkule, secured Gold Medals in R.T.M. Nagpur University Inter-collegiate Wushu Championship in Chanquan Event, also in Jianshu Event and Quianshu Event.
