About the Department
Established in 2002, the Department of Commerce offers Accounting and Taxation and Business Administration as a major subject to all aspirants of the B.Com. Programme under the guidelines of NEP-2020. The department conducts bridge courses for first-year students as per the syllabus designed by the departmental staff. It also organizes remedial classes for slow learners and provides guidance to advanced learners. The department has flexibility in conducting tests, tutorials, and seminars.
The Subject Literary Association actively engages students in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The department extends learning beyond the classroom through field visits and by arranging guest lectures by eminent personalities.
In addition to teaching, faculty members are actively engaged in research activities and have published papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals. A major research project has been completed by the University Grants Commission for the academic year 2016-2017.
The department aims to play a leading role in bringing revolutionary changes in society through scientific and research activities. It places strong emphasis on ICT-based teaching–learning methodologies and provides a platform for enhancing the overall quality and skills of students.
Departmental Library
The department has its own well-maintained Departmental Library for students. It contains a sufficient number of textbooks, reference books, and other study materials related to the curriculum. New books are regularly added as per the academic requirements of students and faculty. Furthermore, the department also provides access to a digital library, enabling students to explore e-books, research articles, and online resources to enhance their knowledge and support their academic growth.
