We at a Glance
Established in 1990 under the auspices of Bhiwapur Mahavidyalaya, the Department of English runs under the astute leadership of the Principal Dr. Jobi George as the Head of the Department accompanied by three other competent staff viz; Dr. Rahil K. Quraishi, Asst. Prof. Someshwar
Wasekar and Dr. Vinita S Virgandham. The Department caters to students offering Compulsory English in B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., B.Voc. Degree Programmes and English Literature in B.A. Programme.
Subject Literary Association
Every academic session, „Subject Literary Association‟ (a student body) represented by students from First, Second and Final year Programmes is installed. All the activities of the Department are organized and conducted in ambit of the Association.
Infrastructure and Teaching Aids
Language Laboratory with ETNL software enables the learners to have hands-on practice
Value added Course/s
- UGC Sponsored Spoken English Course introduced in 2009-2010 continued till 2014- 2015.
- Under the aegis of One Student One Skill Programme, the Department imparts Certificate Course in Spoken English.
- Personality Development Classes and Grooming Sessions for Training & Placement of students is free of cost
Extension Activities and Add -on courses
Open House‟ a free course on Spoken English is offered by the Department for all those interested to learn and improve their skills in the aspects of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing English
Subject Literary Association
- Organised UGC sponsored One Day National Seminar on, „Role of English in Travel and Tourism‟ on 16 March 2012
- Organised UGC sponsored One Day National Seminar on, English Studies in Transnational Environment: Society, Culture and Language‟ on Thursday, 20 April 2017.
Alumni
Many of our Alumni are well placed in the field of Education as Asst. Professors and School Teachers, Police Sub Inspector in Govt. of Maharashtra Police, Bank officials in State Bank of India & Punjab National and as Army Personnel in the Indian Army.
